Backyard Bird Quilt: 36X51.5 inches Appliqued Bedding
This wonderful 36X51.5-inch quilt, masterfully remade by Linda E. Wells in May 2026 from twelve individual bird wall quilts, is perfect for use as a lap quilt, a wheelchair blanket, or a charming accent for a patio or porch swing. Each varying-sized block depicts a unique bird you might observe in your own backyard, including the Yellow Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Oriole, Blue Jay, American Goldfinch, Chickadee, Barn Swallow, Red-Headed Woodpecker, Black Phoebe, Carolina Wren, Nuthatch, and last but not least, the American Robin. All of the birds are beautifully appliquéd onto a straight-stitch white background and separated by a 1/2 -inch black sashing outlined with an elegant blanket stitch. This same blanket stitch frames the 3/4 -inch black side and bottom borders of each block—which feature a decorative quilting stitch in the center—complemented by a 4-inch solid black top border. Finished with a striking black binding with small red dots and a solid black backing fabric, this piece can also be easily converted into a stunning wall quilt by requesting a hanging sleeve on the back at no extra cost.
